What we collect

The short answer: very little, and nothing that personally identifies you unless you contact us directly.

CalendarStates.com is a read-only reference website. You don't create accounts here. You don't log in. We don't ask for your name, your email, or any personal information just to browse the site.

If you use our contact form, you'll provide your name and email address so we can write back. We only use that information to respond to your message. We don't add you to any mailing list, and we don't share it with anyone.

Bottom line: We don't sell your data. We don't trade it. We don't hand it to data brokers. The only personal information we hold is what you choose to send us through the contact form, and it stays in our inbox.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site — things like which states and districts get the most traffic, how long people spend on a page, and whether our search feature is actually useful. This helps us figure out what to build next and which districts to prioritize adding.

Google Analytics collects data like your approximate location (city-level, not your address), browser type, device type, and pages visited. It does this through cookies. That data goes to Google and is governed by Google's privacy policy.

We have IP anonymization enabled, so your precise IP address is not stored. If you'd rather not be included in analytics, you can use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or enable "Do Not Track" in your browser settings.

Advertising and cookies

CalendarStates.com is free to use and is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense to display ads. AdSense uses cookies to show ads that are relevant to you based on your browsing activity across the web — this is sometimes called "interest-based advertising."

Here's what that means in practice:

We don't use any other advertising networks or tracking cookies beyond what's described above.

Third-party links

Every district page on this site links to the official school district website and, where available, directly to the official calendar PDF. Those are external sites with their own privacy policies. Once you click away from CalendarStates.com, we have no control over what those sites collect.

We don't link to anything sketchy on purpose, but we'd still encourage you to be aware when you're leaving our site.

Children's privacy

This site doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. We don't have sign-up forms, comment sections, or anything that would prompt a child to submit personal data. The site is just informational — you look up a school calendar and that's it.

If you're a parent and believe we've somehow collected information about your child, contact us and we'll sort it out promptly.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights related to your personal data — including the right to access it, correct it, or ask us to delete it. In our case, the only personal data we'd have on you is something you sent through the contact form.

If you want to know what we have, want it corrected, or want it deleted — just ask. Send us a message through the contact page and we'll handle it.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. We're not going to quietly change things in a way that matters and hope nobody notices — if something meaningfully changes in how we handle data, we'll be upfront about it.

Questions? The contact page is the best way to reach us.
